Thank you for purchasing one of our closeout torches, because most closeout torches have had a small amount of use it is possible that the torch you receive will already have a fitting installed on the gas hose (black). If this happens to be the case and the fitting is not the correct one for your machine, please read the following procedure. See the opposite side for water fitting information.
For your convenience we have provided you with one each of the most commonly used gas fittings in the industry, along with a clamp for installation.
5/8-18 RH Male – Miller/Lincoln
1/4BSP Female – HTP
9mm Quick Disconnect Male – Most economy machines
Depending on which machine you own you will install the correct fitting on the BLACK gas hose. When installing this fitting it is going to be TIGHT, but it will fit, we build many of these torches at HTP every day and the following is our established procedure.
If necessary, to make installation easier, spray a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the fitting barb and inside of the hose end, this will make inserting the fitting possible.
DO NOT use any other type of lubrication to install the gas fitting. Using any other type of lubrication will potentially introduce contaminants into the gas hose which will cause contamination in your welds.
Water-cooler fittings
If the fittings that are already installed on the hot-water (red) and cold-water (blue) lines are not correct for the water-cooler that you currently own, please see below for options.
If the torch came with 5/8-18 left hand fittings and you need 9mm quick disconnect fittings, please purchase 2 pieces of part # 58LHF-QDM.
If the torch came with 9mm quick disconnect fittings and you need 5/8-18 left hand fittings, please purchase 2 pieces of part # 5/8-18 LH.
